Here's a site which has been going the rounds at work: it tests how dodgy you are. According to the test, I should be looking at a thirty-seven year stretch, plus a fine of 7000 [whistles nervously].

I went to the gym today for the first time in over a year. I am so proud of myself. It makes the 49 a month suddenly worthwhile.

My partner, Edward, has been very diligent and has organised our first holiday of the year: a week in Wales. I did the easy bit and provided a list of suggested accommodation, all taken from last year's Good Hotel Guide. Edward did the hard part, phoning up the hotels and explaining that we are a "male couple". Anyway, it should be an excellent week away, if the weather sorts itself out.

We're staying at the Three Cocks Hotel, in the delightfully-named village of Three Cocks (near Hay-on-Wye), for one night. Then we're having two nights at Penally Abbey in Pembrokeshire, a night at Milebrook House in Knighton, near Ludlow, two nights at the Porth Tocyn Hotel in Abersoch on the Lleyn Peninsula, and finally one night at Ye Olde Bull's Head in Beaumaris, on the island of Anglesey.

Some slightly less blurry photos of the Wavendon gig can be found here. I am shrouded in darkness on the right-hand side of the stage (front row), but you can see me doing my Mein Herr chair thang in a couple of shots...

I'm back at work now after a fantastic weekend. Of course, the big event was the concert at Wavendon on Saturday, which went pretty well, as far as I can tell. The pre-show technical rehearsal was one of the most nerve-wracking I've ever done (don't ask me why), but the many mistakes I made all vanished for the performance, and we had the usual applause, whoops and cries of "More!". One of our audience members has already published some rather nice photos of the event. I got a fantastic lift back from Milton Keynes from Rob Jones and his partner John. Thanks guys!

Also had an excellent day out in Brighton on Saturday with fellow chorus members John Windle and Rich Callegari. We ate a very good meal at the friendly Regency Tavern, strolled along the prom, cast a sad eye over the remains of West Pier, went on the rides on Palace Pier... and got our nipples pierced!

I'm feeling very tired now, due partly to last night's dress rehearsal of the Wavendon show, but also due to a late night session at the Black Cap, Camden. Luckily this next gig is the day before a bank holiday, so there will be plenty of scope for winding down/recovering from the post-show binge. It's going to be a little weird this time, as we're performing well away from our usual patch, and will be piling into the bus home within minutes of finishing the show. I wonder whether the mood will be anti-climatic, or whether we'll be fired up and singing raucous Lloyd Webber numbers all the way down the M1 to Hendon.

I appear to have had some success in adding the ability for you to comment on my blog entries, courtesy of enetation. Please let rip as the mood takes you...
